Aldeburgh’s famous music scene got a special Easter treat as it hosted the Britten-Pears Orchestra as well as the Society of Strange and Ancient Music.
On Saturday, the latter performed the ancient Elizabethan piece ‘Nine Daies Wonder’, which was met with great warmth and applause from the crowd. The Society is already well regarded in Britain and this was the latest in its series of going from strength to strength.
For Easter Sunday itself, the Britten-Pears Orchestra played a performance designed to imitate a single year in Mozart’s life. It was very well received by the audience, many of whom thought it a beautiful end to a perfect Easter day.
