This week saw the 71st annual Aldeburgh Carnival transform the town into a land of fun and frolics, and organisers are thrilled with the record-breaking turnout, which added to a hugely successful event.
Honorary secretary Judy Gowen told the East Anglian Daily Times: ‘It has all been a great deal of fun. The people of Aldeburgh should be very proud of our carnival.’
‘The committee works incredibly hard, but we have an awful lot of fun as well.’
The fun and hard work both paid off this week, as in addition to the carnival floats, a whole array of charity sporting events took this year’s celebrations to the next level. With swimming, a childrens’ sports day, plus a record-breaking 295-person turnout for Sunday’s mini-marathon.
